\nHe steps from the shadows,
\nCloaked in mystery.
\nHis words are kind yet cold.
\nHis gaze penetrating.
\nWith his presence comes a feeling of unease.
\nHis soul is tormented.
\nBehind the mask he hides.
\nShelter for tender emotions long ago tortured.
\nHe turns away,
\nReluctant to free his true self.
\nYet he returns his gaze to her,
\nA look of longing in his eyes.
\n“Please sir!” she cries.
\n“Your heart is safe within my hands.”
\nHe looks anxious.
\nA struggle to stay or flee.
\nAt last his heart conquers his fear.
\nHe approaches,
\nSlowly, cautiously, into her embrace.
\nHis body shudders as her arms reach ’round him.
\nShe soothes his furrowed brow as she gently mutters wordlessly.
\nSmall noises to ease his fearful agitation.
\nHis shaking ceases as he looks down into her eyes.
\nAnd he smiles.
