weirdo

joe lieberman is spamming my referral logs.
i find that amusing after spending far too much time watching cnbc’s new hampshire primary ramp-up yesterday. i don’t understand a lot about the electoral process in the states, it all seems way too funky to me, but it does make for some interesting alternatives to soap opera watching.
my uninformed canadian guide to the u.s. democratic candidates:
howard dean – you know, i liked that he got all emotional and showed some passion in iowa. c’mon, aren’t you tired of all these boring, grey, one-dimensional politicians who are too afraid of alienating any potential votes to do anything even remotely real? good for you, howie. nice forearms, by the way.
wesley clark – okay, at first glance i really didn’t like him. he looked too pasty and wimpy to be a serious contender. after listening to him on meet the press yesterday, i’m glad to report i was wrong. although, he is one of those boring, grey, slick-talking politicians, he’s got some good plans. it’s too bad about that general thing, though.
john kerry – in all fairness, i haven’t heard much from the man himself, but, uh… jfk? are you sure you want to go by that? and what’s with everyone saying he looks french? i’ve always pictured the french as much more attractive than the honourable senator from massachusetts. sorry, john.
john edwards – haven’t heard a damn thing. are you sure he’s real?
joe lieberman – stop spamming my referral logs! grr.

    just try and stop me!

  3. It’s really sad that people have been scared off by Dean’s show of emotion. People complain that our politicians are fake. But as soon as they are faced with a real person with real emotions and thoughts, they decide that the status quo is more comfortable.

i also like that mrs. dean is a natural woman, not all fluffed and painted for the primary tour. i have two words that should scare anyone thinking about being first lady: nancy reagan. *twitch*

  5. Oh god, she was something else, eh? I loved Mrs. Dean. I totally didn’t understand where everyone got off calling Mr. Dean “angry”. He was nowhere near being angry! He was stoked! Pep rally, baby. People just need to get over it. =P

  6. Does it really surprise anyone that people say they want their politicians to do one thing, then get all ticked off when it happens? Like, oh, lower taxes. “But, wait, that means *my* pet service is cancelled?? Hey, wait, I meant lower my taxes AND cut no services except those that are wasteful… like the ones *those people* use.” Which “those people” are, of course, depends on which services the individual speaking wants.
Anyhoo. If you want my political rant of the day, why in the world are primaries/caucuses staggered. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have everyone vote the same day as in the general election. There’s enough whining about early return reporting effecting those who vote later on in the day, I can’t see how a system where two states who happen to get off on getting celebrity treatment because of early voting get to control, really, who moves on is fair.
They were even saying on the news this morning that New Hampshire state law dictates they’ll always have their primary a week before any other state and the only way they’ll change that is if a national law regarding primaries is passed. And then they went on to say how one of the main reasons the people of NH like it is because “they get to meet celebrities” – not just the candidates themselves, but because all the national media shows up. Sheesh. Then they’re likely to vote against what people say just because they like to show they’re independent. This coming from the person in charge of elections within the state. How pathetically high school cool-crowd political can they get?
I am so never moving to NH!

  7. And, wow, do I win for longest comment ever? :)

Hmm the Dean thing was all media lead once the latch onto something… the guy was only trying to rally the folks anyways.. for what it’s worth, as a european i’d like to see Wesley Clark, he seems quite genuine and ended up loosing his job in the armed forces because he stood up to the “powers that be”

  11. Your hair is so long and pretty! How are you sweetie?

  12. Kerry himself might not be that much to look at, but his nephew is hot – my suitemates and I here at Washington University in St. Louis met him yesterday at dinner, of all things, as he was walking around one of our dining places trying to get people to talk about politics. Not bad…
