the best parts of today (disregarding canada’s brilliant gold-medal win over the usa in ice hockey) were the incredible feeling of national pride and camaraderie we felt while watching the game with a building-full of people screaming at the tops of their lungs with joy and then the drive home, our makeshift maple-leaf blowing in the wind, horn honking, giving the thumbs-up to strangers.
i love hockey. i love canada. i love everybody, today!
even in stanley park (where i was when they won) errupted into noise, it was rad. then 6 hrs later driving home from a movie people were still driving around with flags, honking and shouting. it was hella cool (the pride part, i really don’t give a damn about hockey).
*streaks through holding only a flag*
go canadia!
it was an awesome game! =)
i found out at work that Canada won, and everyone in the store was really happy. we were all going either way on it. Because we live about 30-45 mins from Canada, we just consider them a northern state. so we never really “rooted” for one side or the other.
Go Canada!!
(just wished i didn’t miss the game :( )
