what does food poisoning feel like?
update: i’m fairly sure it wasn’t food poisoning, rather a gall bladder attack. the pain stopped sometime between two and six am. i seem to have no lingering effects, but i’m scared to move, eat or drink just in case. i guess i’ll be going to the clinic this week.
um, really, REALLY bad cramps that come and go every few minutes, the runs, throwing up a lot, like every few minutes. And it usually starts about an hour or so after eating.
The good news: it passes within 24 hours. Try to drink water – if you can keep it down. It truly sucks :( Feel better!
if it came on quickly it should be gone quickly but it’s not nice. hope you’re feeling better soon.
ack! was it the brownie?
i was fine until i ate lunch, so it’s either the can of soup or the boca burger. i’m betting on the soup.
fucking campbell’s.
Food poisoning is actually rather rare. More common and likely would be a simple virus that has brutal GI symptoms.
Try to deal as best possible with the symptoms. Keep after the fluids but take them slowly if your having trouble keeping them down. If you simply can not keep anything down at all just don’t eat or drink for 12 hours and then try and take fluids slowly no more than an ounce or so every 15 min to see what you can keep down.
If needed seek medical help and ask about things like nausea control as well as other ways to control loss of fluids (as in the other end if this is an issue). If one is rather ill or less able to tolerate the illness IV fluids and medications may be in order.
Have you had problems with your gall bladder before? My gall bladder has totally crapped out on me leaving me with regular gall bladder attacks which will continue to occur until I get fed up enough to book surgery, which I don’t really want to do either. For me, my gall bladder attacks start at night and usually last anywhere from 30 min to 4 or 5 hours, although I had one yesterday that lasted from 4 am until 7 fucking o’clock at night. They are kindof a constant pain either in the centre under my ribs or they sometimes move to feel more right sided, and they don’t really vary in terms of pain – one minute they start, they hurt at roughly the same level until they’re gone, then they just go away. Anyways, now that I’ve rambled, here’s hoping that you don’t actually have problems with your gall bladder as it’s a royal pain in the ass.
