i picked a kickass team for the group assignments in class. well, i picked chris, who is a kickass team member. shane and i are contributing, andy is kind of sitting there, but chris is rocking the free world. woot. if only wayne, the nutty professor, would actually have marked out mid-terms instead of sailing around the gulf islands.
sometime during class last night, my right shoulder decided that it wants to secede from the union which is my body. it’s telling me this by the excruciating pain whenever i try to relax my arm. so, here i sit, slightly askew, with a bright blue gel pack precariously balanced upon the offending body part in my efforts to appease.
you know what? i’m really fucking tired of being in pain. if nothing else, it’s serving as an object lesson in why i need to lose weight and get active. speaking of, somehow, despite all the crap (with a capital c) i put into my body while i was away, i managed to maintain this week. i don’t know what i did to make the scale gods smile so favourably upon me, but i sure ain’t going to squander the gift. i’ll sacrifice my piece of tiramisu cake in thanks later.

4 Thoughts on “sing the praises

  1. Have you looked into chiropractic work? I have seen one since January for the first time in my life, and suddenly, I don’t have pain anymore… the kind of pain I thought was muscular, or just in my head… until two times last fall my neck seized up and I couldn’t even drive a car (checking blind spots was not much fun!). The xrays revealed not only the issues I told him about, but things I didn’t even know, like kink in my lower back which made my spine take about a 10-degree turn. Weird stuff. But after an intense round of appointments (3x/week at first), I’m seeing him once a month and it’s wonderful. Your body should be able to right itself; chiropractic work helps it learn how. I was scared/skeptical at first, but I’m sold now.

i’ve been procrastinating going for massage for years. i guess i could start procrastinating going to the chiropractor, too. =)
i’ve no fear of bone crackers. i had one years ago who did wonders for some back pain i was experiencing. hmm. interesting that i never thought to see one this time around. thanks, mercy!

Hessie I was going to suggest the very same thing. My life has been so much better (and pain free, from neck, shoulder, back and hip problems) since seeing a chiro regularly. My 3 month old son and husband also go! I say go for it. You could ask friends/colleagues for names of those they really like/recommend. Always helps to like your chiropractor!

  4. I love the look of your blog!! And it’s a good read too ;-) You sound like a BC girl!!
